FOR MEN ONLY

As men, we are taught from early on that our purpose in life is to win:
on the sports field, at war, over other men, in the boardroom, in the bedroom, over women, everywhere. We are expected to control our minds and our feelings. Winning becomes everything. Many men become quite good at it but in the process they sometimes lose their friends, their partners, their families, even their souls. As we grow older, if we survive the strain, and make it into our thirties, forties, and beyond, we become slower and our edges soften.

At this point, many men become panic-stricken. They turn on the speed, as if by going faster they can make the clock stop, even make it go back.  These men are missing an opportunity to recapture their humanness, their connections with others and with themselves.

The goal of this men’s group is primarily to learn more about ourselves. In the process, we may simply regain our equilibrium or improve a problematic relationship or we may actually redefine ourselves and begin an exciting personal journey.

THE FORMAT

As facilitator my role will be to establish a safe environment based on confidentiality and non-judgment, where members can share thoughts, feelings, and life experiences through words.

I will present my views, as well as my questions. I believe we will end up covering seven major topics: work, women, children, mothers, fathers, sex, and money. Spirituality may be an eighth.  Written handouts may be used to aid in discussion.

The group will meet every other week. It will consist of 8 to 10 members. An individual screening meeting will help decide if the group is appropriate for you.
