ONE-DAY HUMAN COMMUNICATION SEMINAR
THE PROBLEM:
Think about the important relationships in your life.
Think about recent disagreements you had with key people in
your life.
How did they start? Did you reach a higher level of
understanding? Did you negotiate and compromise? Did you
become closer? Or was it another frustrating interaction –
more of the same old, same old?
Think about your children.
Are there discipline issues that are growing worse? Are you
and your adolescent growing distant? Are you and your spouse
having difficulty co-parenting?
Think about your underachieving students.
Do you wish they could see their potential and make
an internal shift that will make all the difference?
Think of where you work.
Are you feeling unfulfilled or unrecognized? Are others’
behaviors making it difficult to go to work most mornings? Is the
lack of teamwork creating a morale problem and a frustrating
workplace?
The problem is that we are not trained in the art of
human communication.
We are not trained to use our feelings and thoughts to reach
a common ground that allows for positive change, closeness,
and harmony.
In school we are taught English, Literature, even Speech.
However, these courses do not help us to successfully
communicate emotionally – to reach mutual understanding.
Courses on communication focus
on how to “talk to” others not “talk with”
others. We are taught to prepare well for what we are going
to “say”. Has anyone discussed with you how to
prepare to “listen”?
Between the complexities of human communication and the lack
of training – we are quite handicapped.
WORKING ON THE PROBLEM:
This one-day seminar goes a long way towards helping you
gain a very different perspective on human communication.
Will it significantly improve your vital relationships; make
work gratifying; help your kids get A’s; help you run a more
effective organization? On a really good day, and if we are
lucky – maybe. I can guarantee that you will be impressed
by how much you didn’t know before the seminar and even more
impressed by how much you already know but fail to put to
good use.
THE SEMINAR
The One-Day Human Communication Seminar is designed
to expose individuals, couples, business owners, HR
personnel, managers, and even teachers, to new approaches
and methods for improving communication in our everyday
life.
The Seminar will focus on presenting basic but powerful
principles of communication, including the concept of
genuine Dialogue developed at the Sloan Business Management
School at MIT. This involves work done by organizational and
consulting psychologists who work with businesses but who
have developed ideas and practices that can benefit everyone
in all aspects of life.
The Seminar is not a group therapy or encounter group.
No one will be asked to share anything personal with the
class.
